Redfall is an open-world looter shooter set in modern-day America, in which you and a handful of survivors are fighting for your survival against a horde of vampires that have cut you off from the rest of the world. You can play as one of four characters with abilities to help you retake your land from the vampires.

With so much to do and explore, this Beginners Guide will detail everything you'll need to know when starting in Redfall.

Choosing Your Difficulty

While a breakdown of these options can be found below, it is worth noting that difficulty options can be changed at any time via the menu, and there are no consequences for switching between difficulties as you progress through the game.

  • Daylight: Those blood suckers are not prepared for you. Enemies are weaker.
  • Dusk: Welcome to Redfall, vampires and all. Enemies are moderate
  • Midnight: Trip up, and they will drain you dry. Enemies are tough.
  • Eclipse: You must complete the game on any difficulty to unlock Eclipse.

Choosing Your Character

Once you load in for the first time, you'll be asked to select a character. While looking through them, you can decide which one of the four you want to play as. Jacob, Layla, Devinder, and Remi all have their own abilities that make them stand out. Listed below are the four characters you can pick from:

  • Layla
  • Devinder
  • Remi
  • Jacob

Skills

Each character has their own unique set of skills. As you level up, you'll earn skill points that can later be spent on the Skills Menu. It's worth going through and looking at each individual skill first before you go and start spending points so that way; you have an idea of what you should be working towards first.

Each character has five different categories of skills; the first one will be based on the first three will be based around your character's abilities, while the last fourth and fifth ones are passive abilities you can unlock.

Grave Locks And Collectibles

Exploring through Redfall will reveal a series of Grave Locks and collectibles of all types, giving you more information on the world around you. They can be found as Psychic Echoes and notes; all give you a peek behind the window of what happened before you arrived at Redfall. Weapons

In a true looter-shooter fashion, you can use a wide variety of weapons throughout Redfall. Even though there are only six main types of guns, you'll come across each. There are serval different variants of them. For example, one pistol may be your standard gun, while the other may shoot electric rounds, and another pistol may have a faster reload speed and deal extra damage to vampires. Listed below are all the types of weapons you can use:

  • Stake Launcher
  • Sniper Rifle
  • Shotgun
  • Assault Rifle
  • UV Beam
  • Pistol

Side Quest And Safehouses

Side Quest and Safehouses play a significant role in Redfall. As you progress through the game, you'll need to complete a few side quests and clear some safehouses to progress in the main game.

In addition to progressing in the game, completing these activities will also reward you with weapons, clothes, and more. We highly recommend prioritizing these activities and side quests as they become available.

Map

Learning the map is extremely important. Once the game opens up, take a moment to walk around and discover landmarks and safehouses because these can later be used to fast-travel. This especially becomes useful once Nests appear throughout the area because they allow you to travel to them much quicker.

Vendors

As you begin exploring Redfall, you'll quickly come across a wide variety of vendors that you can buy things from. Each store holds valuable items and services you'll want to utilize throughout your journey through Redfall. Listed below are the types of stores you can visit:

  • Medical Supplies
    • Here, you can purchase Med Kits.
  • Ammunition
    • At this station, you can buy ammo for all of your weapons.
  • Armory
    • At the Armory, you'll have access to various guns you can buy.
  • Lost And Found
    • The Lost And Found feature many different items, but you'll also find Lockpicks and Rewire Kits here.
