Who is This Game For?

You should play this game if you enjoy the Johto region but want more from the whole Team Rocket plotline.

However, you should not play this game if you’re just looking for a simple Johto rom hack with increased difficulty.

Features and Additions

Upgraded Storyline

Admit it. Team Rocket in the original Pokemon Gold and Silver lacked purpose and was kind of pointless.

But Pokemon GS Chronicles aims to fix that.

It makes the original story more interesting by adding slight route changes, different enemy encounters, and cutscenes that provide more depth and emotion.

Mega Evolution

Pokemon GS Chronicles fully supports Mega Evolution. Pokemon that are able to Mega Evolve in Generations 1-4 can also Mega Evolve in this game.

I honestly didn’t expect this feature to blend as well as it does in this game. It felt as if Mega Evolutions were a part of the original game all along.

New Regional PokeDex

You can encounter all 494 Pokemon available till the fourth generation + Sylveon in this game.

Although there are some restrictions, you can still build a great team by catching a wide variety of Pokemon.

All the Moves

You’ll get to experience all the moves from Generation 1 to 8.

And that’s not all. The game creator has included some custom moves as well.

No HMs Needed

Pokemon GS Chronicles incorporates the “ride” system from Generation 7.

Now you won’t have to carry around HMs anymore.

Updated Graphics

This game looks a lot prettier than your average hacks. And that is all thanks to upgraded graphics like battle backgrounds, bag, trainer card, and almost everything else.

Increased Difficulty

You’re in for a surprise beating if you’re not paying attention.

The AI is more “intelligent”. Opponents will switch out their Pokemon if the battle isn’t going their way. Plus, most trainers have a stronger team than the original games.

Physical/Special Split

Like a lot of other hacks, Pokemon GS Chronicles also has a physical/special split—‌giving neglected Pokemon a much-needed boost from STAB moves.

Fairy Types

Pokemon GS Chronicles grants Fairy typing to all intended Pokemon like Gardevoir, Clefairy, Jigglypuff, etc.

Pokemon GS Chronicles: Download

You can directly download the game by clicking on the following link: Pokemon GS Chronicles Download

However, .bps patches require a patcher tool and ROM. The game creator recommends patching this game to a clean Fire Red ROM (1636 – pokemon fire red (u)(squirrels).gba).

To download a ROM patcher, click on one of the following links:

Glitches

There’s no such thing as a rom hack without its fair share of glitches. And this one is no exception. Some known bugs in this game include:

  • Laggy fast-forward speed
  • Broken PokeMart graphics
  • Occasionally incorrect health bar and EXP graphics
  • Nonfunctional DexNav (might not work with mGBA and real hardware)

Pokemon GS Chronicles: Documentation

Want a reference document with all the Pokemon and their stat? We’ve got you. Here’s a link to the Google Sheets provided by the game creator himself: Pokemon GS Chronicles Documentation

This evolution guide pretty much contains everything like Dex entry, type balance, stat balance, locations, forms, etc.
