Why does Zillow have less listings? ›

Most likely because there is a shortage of inventory (homes for sale) in just about every market in the USA. Zillow, as well as the other websites, get their feed from the MLS's around the country. If there are fewer homes listed for sale in the MLS then there will be fewer showing up on Zillow.

A red dot on Zillow means that the home is currently for sale (rare exception: already foreclosed homes). The home will either be accepting offers, under contract, new construction, or up for auction. Click on the listing, and the text next to the dot will indicate what the home's status is.

TIP: Green areas on a Zillow listing's map represent parks. Dog parks are also marked on Zillow's maps.

Although Zillow and Trulia have the same corporate owner, there is some difference in the interface for both websites. Zillow has a more graphic experience for searching for a home, while Trulia has a relatively simple design. In addition, Zillow, unlike Trulia, goes beyond the U.S. in its listings.

Your house may not be getting many showings because of its over-elevated price. Of course, you want to earn a good amount from your property, but pushing above the reality of the market is likely to lead to a “stalemate” situation between you and potential buyers.

Zillow does not have the ability to pull listings from other sites or sources, we can only display listings that are sent directly to us. If your listing is not on Zillow, please confirm with your agent or listing provider that the listing is being sent to Zillow.

Typos and sob stories

Emails filled with spelling and grammatical errors are usually a sign of fraud. British spelling such as “favour” instead of “favor” is also a sign of a rental scam. Messages involving stories of family or financial issues, or of agents who charge too high a premium are usually fraud.

The nationwide median error rate for the Zestimate for on-market homes is 2.4%, while the Zestimate for off-market homes has a median error rate of 7.49%.

What does hot home mean on Zillow? ›

A Hot Home is highly likely to sell quickly, but there can be no assurance. Alternatively, a home that is not identified as a Hot Home could sell quickly.

High-risk areas are shaded red or orange on the map. The coast areas, shown in purple, are also considered high risk.

Zillow casts a wider net, attracting more leads through pay-per-impression advertising while potentially sacrificing quality with its inclusion of unverified FSBO listings. Realtor.com boasts higher quality leads through targeted paid programs for pre-qualified buyers but demands higher per-lead costs.

Sometimes the data that Zillow has is outdated and may not include any renovations or updates made to the home. Providing this information could improve the accuracy of the estimate. Above all, always be sure to consult with a licensed real estate agent if you have any questions on the valuation of a home.

If the listing is already coming from a listing feed, or another account in Rental Manager, it is very likely for your listing to be declined. Your listing is already posted for sale. Zillow Group does not support listings that are for sale and for rent simultaneously. Only one version of the listing will be published.

The views and saves counter will only show the values from the most recent 30 days. You may notice your views and saves counter fluctuate once these 30 days are past, as you are no longer seeing the values from days outside of the current 30-day window.

What does “listing removed” mean on Zillow? “Listing removed” means the seller has decided to take the house off market – it usually does not mean that the house was sold.
